New Year's Eve

I was just reading Sarah's latest posts at Just Me and loved her post about what she would wear on New Year's Eve. So, I'm jumping on the bandwagon and having a play with Polyvore. This is what I would wear if I was going out to partay! Sadly, I'm not. I'll be at home baking my little girl cubs first birthday cake.

Bye Christmas! See You Next Year!

The big day has been and gone. I expected the cubs to wake up super early, but in fact, I was awake before them. Excited much?

We soon discovered that Santa indeed visited during the night and left us some goodies. He even took the time to write the cubs a little note on their blackboard whilst downing his milk and biscuits we left out for him.

We had fun opening presents minutes after waking up, hence the sleepy looks...

I was very lucky as The Bear gave me two gorgeous new beads for my Pandora bracelet. The two on the right, one with gold leaves and the other with the bluish/green flower. I was extra lucky and received a third charm, the sleigh, from a lovely online friend whom I've never met. Sorry the photo is so small! This is where I wish I had a macro lens!

After we got through our presents, it was time to head to my parents for breakfast. We do an annual family photo on Christmas Day. The family has grown over the years. I'm the one with the reindeer antlers :)

After breakfast and photos, we all sat down to open more presents from the grandparents, aunties and uncles. It was utter chaos! But lots of fun!

It was then off to The Bear's family (aka in-laws) for lunch. More present unwrapping occured here too. Although, not as many kids, less chaos!

After a long day, the cubs were spoiled rotten. The evidence was on my kitchen table! Some of the things up the back left were for me though :)

I hope everyone in Blogger land had a safe and happy Christmas! Here's to a great year in 2011!

Last night, The Bear and I had a kiddie-free night out. We went to the U2 concert at Subiaco Oval (oops sorry, it's now called Pattisons Stadium). It was one of the best concerts I've been to (not that I've been to many, that's probably for another post). The stage setup was just amazing. They had a 360 set up, hence the tour being called their 360 Tour! We had seats up in the stands and had an excellent view of everything, even though the band did look pencil sized.

Jay-Z was the support act and while I don't mind a bit of Jay-Z tunes, his live performance was rather average. I couldn't imagine him doing his own show in a venue that size purely because the majority of his songs are performed with another big artist, in which case half of his performance was recorded!

The general admission was awesome! I think the atmosphere down in the mosh pit would have been mind-blowing! To see so many people squished in together, all bouncing to the same groove, it just looked phenomenal. One day, I would love to experience a big concert at a huge venue like Wembley Stadium.

It was a fantastic night out and a great show. U2 are definitely a band to see.

A Goal Achieved

One of my fitness goals was to complete a triathlon and I did exactly that yesterday! I've posted about it here in my fitness blog.

I'm still on a runner's high and am looking for more events to do next year when my swimming has improved some more!

Next 10km non stop.

Rollercoasters and Fairyfloss

Ok, we didn't actually have any fairyfloss, but we did go on a rollercoaster!

Last week we went to the Perth Royal Show. This was the first time I had been in about 15 years. It was the first time The Bears have gone as a family. J-Bear loved it! He went on a rollercoaster and a few other rides. We grabbed a few showbags, cuddled a chick, and checked out the pavillions. It was a great day!

I came across this really raw, powerful post from Single Dad Laughing and I had to share it. Grab a cuppa, it's a long post but well worth the read and extremely interesting!

Going for a swim, ride and run

As part of my 12 week mission to get fit and healthy, I needed to make some milestones along the way. Something to work towards. I'm not sure I know what I'm doing but I have just registered to do a triathlon. Yikes! *deep breath*

It's on the 7th November and it's a women's triathlon called Triathlon Pink and it's for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Now, I personally haven't been through or directly know anyone who has sadly had to suffer through breast cancer but I'd like to support it anyway, you know being part of the sisterhood and all!

And it just so happens that this event ties in with my own personal health and fitness goals. So there you have it, my very first triathlon. Granted, it is only a short course consisting of a 100 meter swim, 3km bike ride and a 1km run. But it's still a triathlon. That I'm doing. I'm not a very good swimmer either, so it's time to start swimming lessons!

I'll add a little box over on the side there so if anyone feels like they want to sponsor me, they can. It would be very welcome and appreciated :)

Transporting the Cubs

In my quest to search for a bike trailer so I can get on my bike with the cubs, I came across the Zigo.

This piece of equipment can be converted into a jogging stroller as well. You can also have the kid compartment on the back in traditional bike trailer style or it comes off completely, so you can ride the bike without the kids (as if that would ever happen).

How awesome is that? I want one! Unfortuantely, the price tag does not agree with our current bear budget. Hmmm *looks around the house to see what can be sold off*

I had my alarm set for Friday morning for when U2 tickets went on sale. As the clock ticked over to 9am, I sat at my computer, requested two tickets and nervously waited minutes in the virtual queue. I missed out on the first show. It seems they sold out in under ten minutes! So, I left my computer and got organised to go to the shops. Just before I left I thought "I'll just check one more time just in case..." and much to my excitement, they added another show so I requested two tickets again, waited, waited and waited some more in the virtual queue. Finally, about four minutes later, it gave me two seats. Wheee! Got some! The Bear and I are really looking forward to it. We don't get out much without the cubs these days ;)

My Wedding Dress

MMBB over at The Muffin Monster Bubbalug Blog was wondering what people did with their wedding dress. Mine has been cleaned and packed away in a wedding dress friendly box and stored in the bottom of my wardrobe. Every now and then I get the box out and take a peek and reminisce about one of the best days in my life.

I'm hanging on to my dress because I'm a hoarder. Well, actually, my dress is a bit different and it is something that I would love for my daughter to see and if she wants to wear it she can. If she doesn't, I'll still hang on to it. It would be nice to have something to pass on even if it doesn't get used as such.

Once I saw this dress, I knew it was The One. I had a bit of a panic after buying it thinking I'd made a mistake but I'm so glad I chose this one. I love it.

Mamma Bear Is Getting Fit!

Yup, that's right. It's time to get serious and say good bye to this extra baby weight I've been lugging around. Before Children, I used to train three times a week in martial arts, pilates once a week and do thirty minutes on the cross trainer every morning. Sheesh, that's exhausting just thinking about that! I want to get back to that again, especially since I was not far off getting my black belt when I felt pregnant with the J-bear. So, I've joined a couple of online support groups and started another blog here to document the torture I'm about to put myself through!

A Day at the Zoo

We went to the zoo last week for the first time in about a year. It was J-bear's third time and Meow's first. It was a great day out (and I got lots of walking in) that the kids loved. J-bear still hasn't stopped talking about the merry-go-round!

Milk break!
Catch me if you can!
What you lookin' at?!

It's tiring work for a two year old!
