Mamma Bear Is Getting Fit!

Yup, that's right. It's time to get serious and say good bye to this extra baby weight I've been lugging around. Before Children, I used to train three times a week in martial arts, pilates once a week and do thirty minutes on the cross trainer every morning. Sheesh, that's exhausting just thinking about that! I want to get back to that again, especially since I was not far off getting my black belt when I felt pregnant with the J-bear. So, I've joined a couple of online support groups and started another blog here to document the torture I'm about to put myself through!

A Day at the Zoo

We went to the zoo last week for the first time in about a year. It was J-bear's third time and Meow's first. It was a great day out (and I got lots of walking in) that the kids loved. J-bear still hasn't stopped talking about the merry-go-round!

Milk break!
Catch me if you can!
What you lookin' at?!

It's tiring work for a two year old!

Study

Returning to study is something I've always thought about doing. It just hasn't happened because I'm indecisive and a procrastinator! At first I was considering nursing and midwifery but I'm thrown off by the shift hours. I'm not really keen on working all odd hours.

My top preference is physiotherapy. It's a job I think I would love to do. I'd love to help people recover from injuries and make their life that little bit easier. It would be a challenge to get into the course as it's highly competitive but I think I could manage it. The biggest obstacle is that it's only offered full time on campus only and I don't know how I would manage that with a toddler and baby as I'm not willing to put them into daycare. Maybe I need to wait a few years until they are in school.

I do have another field of study I'd like to do and that's library studies/information management. Being a librarian would be really flexible around the family I think and I love books and I love information and knowledge. The course can be done part time and fully online, either as a postgraduate degree or an undergraduate degree, the latter obviously taking longer to complete but also less expensive.

So many decisions to make!

One Year of Marriage

On Sunday, 15th August it was my first wedding anniversary. I would have blogged about it on the day but I was too busy celebrating with my husband :) It has been a wonderful year and I still pinch myself at times because it just seems like a dream that I have the bestest husband in the whole world. He is my world and I still get butterflies and feel giddy in love and I'm excited to spend the rest of my years with him.

Zumba!

Tonight I tried my first Zumba class and it was fantastic! I loved it. I haven't had a good workout like that in such a long time and the best thing of all was that it was FUN FUN! This one is definitely going to be a weekly event.

I felt so unco but I didn't care, I was having too much fun. At first I felt a little embarrassed but then I realized everyone else was there for some fun exercise and it was easier to really get into it. Zumba. My new favourite exercise!

Quiet in blogland

I've been quiet lately (in case you didn't notice)! The Bear has been on annual leave the past week and this week. Yay! I love having him home. It was our anniversary on Sunday and aside from that we've been getting out and about doing stuff, just hanging out. I hope to get a few moments later to sit down and write a few posts about what I've been up to lately. Stay tuned!

Chasing Ducks

This morning I loaded the bear cubs into the pram and went for a long walk in this glorious hint of Spring time weather. I decided to take a different route today and head down to the lake. There is a kiddie playground nearby where J-bear had a wonderful time sliding, seesawing and swinging. I think his highlight of the morning was chasing ducks. Big fat ducks. I guess they are well fed by the public!

The ducks weren't my highlight of the morning however. As soon as we got there, they made a bee line for me. Started making quacking noises and they even pushed themselves between me and the pram where the baby bear was sleeping (until they woke her up with their loud quacks, that is).
